ANTIRACISM

#Antiracism

It means a lot that you are willing to engage in the conversation - especially when many people are fighting against this idea.

The following books are ones that I would personally encourage everyone to check out. I genuinely think they would create a solid foundation for conversation and growth.

How to be an Antiracist by Ibram X Kendi

The Skin We’re In by Desmond Cole

White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo

I’m Still Here by Austin Channing Brown

(And these were my faves over the last few years. The “*” are by Canadian authors)

*Seven Fallen Feathers by Tanya Talaga

The Cross and the Lynching Tree by James H. Cone

*A Mind Spread Out On The Ground by Alicia Elliot

Tears We Cannot Stop - Michael Eric Dyson

*The Inconvenient Indian - Thomas King

*Angry. Black. Woman. - Lydia Collins

Between The World And Me - Ta-Nehisi Coates

The Fire Next Time - James Baldwin

I’ve put together a few key content links that I invite you to check it out. Instead of compiling a massive list of my own - I decided to share a list created by people who are forerunners of this work. Many of these are things that I’ve been checking out over the last 5 or 6 years. Some are resources that were also shared by many of you. (And THANK YOU to all those who participated in this).

BUT I also wanted to have resources that were explicitly Canadian. So below, you can find links to books, podcasts, movies, etc.… and even a few great pieces that speak directly to Canadian race issues. I’ll post them below.

I hope all of this helps. Of course please continue to toss any ideas my way Let’s learn together. This work is about justice, peace and love. I believe it is a solid start in eradicating the viruses of racism and oppression in this world. I hope that we can continue this hard and necessary work… together.
